Hiking & Stars
Breakfast at Potama
Eng Chin found online a place for breakfast at the resort next to our apartment.

Mt Fuji Motabu Trail
Jack had planned to go for “epic hikes” at Asmui 大石林山, which is 60km north. Considering the hot weather, and a one way drive to the mountain is 1 hour, we decided to go for shorter hike nearby.

To See Stars
Tonight we are going star gazing. The drive along Route 58 to dinner was very scenic, and we stopped by Shioya for photos

So Difficult to Get Dinner
We knew we were driving to small towns so dinner may be hard to come by. We set off early hoping to reach a restaurant before it closes. The first restaurant we found on google had decent reviews. But the lady there didn’t seem keen to serve us (tourists) and directed us to another restaurant.
This next restaurant was so nondescript that google maps brought us to the back of the building, and we totally missed it. Had to back onto the main road and make another round.
Turguwa @ Kunigami. This is a true Izakaya restaurant

The customers sitting by the bar seems to know each other and the bartender, drinking and laughing loudly. It reminds me of a scene out of a Japanese movie.

The food is Okinawan and Japanese fare, very much like our Singapore Tze Char food.

Star Gazing at Kunigami Village Forest Park
Jack had booked an English guided star gazing session via Veltra website. When we arrived for the session, we were told only Japanese speaking guide was available. So we spent the next one and a half hours listening to the forest guide talk about the stars in Japanese. Even Eng Chin couldn’t fully understand the guide.
But we got to see some shooting stars and got a chance to observe some distant stars and galaxies via the big telescope in the observatory.
